From the beginning..

At the age of six I asked my parents for a chalkboard so I could play "school".  I knew from a very young age that I was meant to be a teacher. I am curious and passionate about learning and enjoy so very much working with students. What I didn't know was the interesting path I would take to get to the here and now. My first year teaching it became quickly apparent to me that I wanted to meet the needs of every student and not just "the audience" in front of me. When my first child was born, he was filled with wonder about the world and then began my adventure into the homeschooling world-learning with my son, organizing field trips and leading classes for other children. 23 years later and with three other children joining us along the way, it has been quite a ride. Four years ago I started my own business to help the needs of other families. The Write Connection was born.

"Barb has been amazing at helping my son this year. I explained to her what we were looking for and what my son was needing. She was able to meet him exactly where he was at and he has shined more than I could imagined with her help. I really appreciated how there was no judgment towards my son to what he "should" have already known. She is kind with a great sense of accountability that my son responded to so well. Barb is also great at keeping me informed and included in the learning by having great communication with me and sending detailed emails about what they covered in class. I am looking forward to working with her again next year and for my other children."

"As a homeschooling mom, I realized early on that I did not have the skill to teach my kids the mechanics of writing and how to enjoy the writing process to enable them to write well. I am grateful to have found Barb, who has been my high school son’s sole English teacher for the past three years. They have read lots of great non fiction and fiction books together and he has done a lot of writing assignments, including hand written journals, 5 paragraph papers, and a variety of essays. My son is a more confident writer and I believe is on the path where he will find enjoyment in it due to Barb’s coaching and patience. I am sending my 12 year old reluctant reader and writer to her in the fall!"
